Let’s Talk About Singing…
Welcome to 2021 everyone!!! Ah we made it! To start the new year, I wanted to talk about something that makes me shine. Singing has been a big part of my life ever since I was little. It has allowed me to convey my creativity to the world. I discovered this passion of mine in the middle of my fourth grade musical, a child-friendly rendition of Mamma Mia while I was belting my little lungs out, riding on a wave of pure bliss.
Prior to this experience, I was more on the quiet spectrum, getting embarrassed if my sister heard me singing “Eye of the Tiger” in the shower. I always felt truly alive while singing from the first audience of thirty or so parents forced into coming to a play to my largest crowd of two thousand music fans eagerly watching me perform in a local singing competition called Teen Star. Each time I perform, I am fueled with heart pumping joy which has also has risen my self confidence tremendously.
Without singing influencing my life so heavily, I would have never tried out for certain school activities, clubs, or even applied to jobs that have added immense joy to my life. I am so grateful that I was able to pursue this passion of mine for as long as I have. I really credit my parents for helping me stick with it.
Even though I have not preformed for a while, I still extrapolate so much energy from belting out “Young Hearts Run Free” by Candi Staton in the car with my brothers or singing one of my mom’s favorite songs to her. I encourage you all to find something that really brings you joy this year. Even if it is challenging at the beginning, having a strong support group around you to keep your fire burning is huge.
The poise, self confidence, and internal energy gained from my singing carries me throughout my everyday life. I can strongly say that singing has morphed me into who I am and I couldn’t be happier to have had this influential passion in my life.
Let me know what you want me to talk about next!
